I’m a big fan of an exchange that makes the transactions and processes as easy as possible. I’ve used quite a few and always seem to come back to Changelly.com*. Weird ass name but a solid product and they make the process of exchanging into just about any currency pretty straightforward. A lot of the how-tos on the site will reference Changelly for this reason.
While they have added the ability to make credit card based exchanges, I still recommend using Bitcoin (BTC) for your exchanges to remove any limitations that come with a card. If you need to buy BTC, check out our ‘How to Buy Bitcoin’ post.
Step 1. Go to Changelly.com*. If you use this link, it will take you directly to the BTC to Ripple page on the exchange https://changelly.com/exchange/BTC/XRP/1?ref_id=55cacbd75053
and here is one for USD to XRP
Step 2. Confirm the Amounts
Pretty straightforward, check out the amounts you want to exchange.
Step 3. Get your Ripple Address
If you haven’t already done so, you’ll need to download the Ripple Wallet and set it up to accept coins. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. Ripple’s website has a good video on the setup (below) and you can download a wallet from Rippex here https://rippex.net/carteira-ripple.php#/
Step 4. Exchange.
Enter your XRP address and if your wallet doesn’t provide a destination tag than you can ignore it.
Step 5. Confirmation
Step 6. Go to your BTC Wallet (eg coinbase.com) and send the desired amount of BTC to the address they provide you. Changelly will flip the Bitcoin into Ripple and deposit it into your account in a matter of minutes.
